This year was more than we ever could have expected. 2019 brought us new talented team members, fantastic projects, intelligent technologies and amazing facilities that just keep on expanding.
This year our team went from strength to strength. We welcomed Megan Johnston, our Commercial Manager, and a raft of new Production talent including Senior Post-Producer, Elizabeth Maj, and super Post-Producers Céline Duvivier, Mia Riches and Lily Morgan.
With these superstars in our team, we now feel like the ultimate powerhouse!
We’ve kept sustainability at the heart of our culture this year, cutting our carbon footprint even further to 0.6 tonnes! Our facilities continue to be powered by 100% renewable energy with the addition of force-of-nature, Bethany Smith, our new talented Facilities Manager, who does everything a hundred miles an hour.
Our outstanding creative team deserves a big mention this year for reaching new heights and keeping us at the leading edge of post. This year we delivered our first Netflix show - Maradona in Mexico in UHD and HDR Dolby Vision as a seven-part documentary series. It was fantastic working with our friends the Ronachan Films team on this incredible project! We also delivered School of Life to YouTube Originals, and as the year draws to a close we’ve taken on our biggest standalone project ever – we can’t talk about it just yet, but it’s for Amazon Studios and it is going to be epic.
Backing up all these exciting projects is an advanced infrastructure, watertight workflows and an operations team that are not content unless they’re innovating. As a result, this year we've been officially certified to deliver Dolby Vision. The introduction of DaVinci Resolve to our offering nicely complements our existing workflows.
To get to do what we love is incredible, but then to be recognised by the industry is just over the top! This year Splice was placed 4th in Broadcast Tech magazine of the Top 10 Post Houses poll, voted by 126 production companies. As if that wasn't enough, Splice has been nominated in the Best Post-House category for the 2020 Broadcast Awards. We are over the moon with this recognition!
We have never had the ambition to be huge, but we find ourselves growing to meet the increasing demands of our clients, which is why we are opening our new Nile Street facility in January alongside our Old Street & Shoreditch facility. This will take us up to 70 suites – the biggest Splice has ever been. We plan to remain a family and keep our culture, which is all about being an independent, boutique post house.
We end the year with crowning the Employee of the Year 2019 - Head of CTA, Radhika Patel! A supportive leader and notoriously hard-worker, Rad fully deserves high praise for her contribution to the team! Thank you so much, Rad.
Have a rocking new year & see you in 2020!
