The year got off to a great start, in January we were named one of the Best Places to Work in TV by Broadcast Magazine and Best Companies Group. But the accolades didn't stop there, in October we placed 12th in Televisual magazine's Top 50 Facilities and what's more, came 3rd in the TV Producer's Poll and 5th in the overall Producer's Poll. And to round it all off, in November, our Head of Picture, Adam Dolniak was awarded the RTS Craft & Design Award for Picture Enhancement.
We've been lucky enough to work on some incredible content this year from new series like 'The Reluctant Landlord' for Sky One to classics like BBC's 'MasterChef', feature documentaries like 'Fighting for a City' and 'A Deal with the Universe' and scripted comedies like the final series of 'People Just Do Nothing' for BBC Three and the fourth series of 'Plebs' for ITV2.
Whilst many will be heading into the new year with resolutions of the normal diet plans and crazy gym routines, at Splice we're actually pretty happy with our expanding waistband. In Summer we opened our new branch in the heart of Cardiff's city centre on St Mary Street, it's an all Avid facility with production offices available too. And with a new London facility coming in 2019, our growth won't stop there.
But there's one thing we're not growing, and that's our carbon footprint. Having joined BAFTA's albert scheme last year we continue to be committed to our sustainability; all of our facilities run on 100% renewable energy, are single-use plastic free and (almost) entirely paperless.
In December, we put a vote out to our entire team to name their Employee of the Year, pretty much unanimously our Operations Manager, Simon Petrovitch won the title. The unsung hero of Splice, Simon ensures all our projects have tailored workflows, impeccable media management and are delivered safely and securely to their final destination all whilst managing a large team of edit assistants and QC operators. Congratulations Simon, thoroughly deserved!
If we had one takeaway for 2018 it comes from our latest artist in residence, Anthony Burrill, to Work Hard & Be Nice to People, something which we'll continue to do in 2019 and beyond...
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from all the team at Splice!
