My alarm goes off…
I’m not a morning person, so I always sleep as long as I can. Sometimes if I want to go to the gym I’ll wake up early but normally it’s last minute. Once I'm up I run straight to work, it's not much different from the rest of my day, as I'm a runner!
I’m responsible for…
As runners, there are so many things we need to take care of. I like that we’re the link between everything. Obviously, we have a lot of errands to run, for me, it's a great opportunity to explore London. I love exploring new places, especially places where I’d never usually go.
I got my job…
It was actually around this time last year, I was coming to the end of my studies at my University in Spain and was awarded an Erasmus grant to complete a 3-month internship abroad. I knew I wanted to learn better English and that all the great post-production houses were in London, so I started my research. Splice stood out to me as it seemed like a creative and fun environment, and it does the post-production for MasterChef - I've been watching Spanish MasterChef since I was a teenager and I'm the biggest fan - so I just set my sights on Splice! I emailed my CV over, and a few months later I arrived to do my internship. Once I finished my internship they hired me as a full-time runner and I'm now officially part of the team.
My typical day…
What’s a typical day? It doesn’t exist in the runner world. I don’t have a routine, every day is different and I love it.
My most memorable work moment…
I was very proud of myself having been offered a job at Splice straight after University. It was a big moment for me because it meant I was going to live in London for real.
The worst part of my job…
Runner's shift times change a lot, you might start at 8 am one week and at 2 pm the following week, some people love it but I find it quite challenging.
The best part of my job…
I just love it all. Of course, it can be hard work, but I wouldn't be here if I didn't like it. I want to be a colourist and there are so many talented people here which make it a great environment to learn. All runners are part of the shadowing scheme, which means we get a half day off the rota every few weeks to shadow the editors, colourists and sound mixers, on top of this I often go and sit with different departments on my lunch break. I just want to learn as much as I can and Splice lets me do that.
After work…
I drink beer (laughs). Well no, we usually go out for a drink after work on Friday. The rest of the evenings I usually go home and watch something, these days I’m binging Peaky Blinders. Sometimes I like to draw when I feel inspired.
My Plan B…
Singer! (laughs) I am so loud and sing all the time! Someone told me that there is a course in the US where you can actually study Beyonce - how to sing and be like her, so maybe that’s my Plan B.
